Summary

Cast Iron bridge of a mid 20th century date, recorded during a walk over survey in 2004. The footpath that this bridge carries was established across the former chalk quarry on a ridge of backfilled material in the 1950s. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)

This is one of two footbridges which crosses the gorge, this one is located above a cement built tram tunnel. It is modern dating to the mid-late 1950s and rests on a cause way of chalk and earth. The sides are formed by panels of simple upright rails with diagonal braces and a handrail. There are two makers signs with the inscription ‘Finch Engineering Limited, Belvedere Works, Barkingside Essex’. The bridge is 27m long with a concrete path. (1)
