Several Lower/Middle Palaeolithic flints were found in the Darland area of Gillingham in the early 20th C. These include handaxes, flake tools and debitage. They form part of the Burchell Collection and are held at the British Museum.

Material from Darland (including 3 handaxes) seen by Roe in Dartford Museum (1), and included in the Southern Rivers Palaeolithic Project (2, 3). Further material held by British Museum (part of the Burchell collection, including 7 handaxes and a Levallois flake), probably found in c. the 1930s, and including 3 pieces marked "Darland, clay-with-flints".
