Pal artefact from gravel under new shop for Mr Ames, Swanscombe, collected in late 19th C. Listed in the Stopes flint collection catalogue as no. 656 (1). The actual artefact could not be found when the collection was studied by F Wenban-Smith in 2003-2004 (1), but was most likely a handaxe. The location of Ames' shop was established by consulting Victorian directories (1).
