Roe (1, p145) noted a handaxe from Chislet in the British Museum, and one from Highstead, in Chislet parish, in Herne Bay Museum (1, p156), but no further info on them or their provenance. Evans (2, p617) mentions several gravel pits in vicinity of Chislet where Palaeolithic finds might be expected, amongst which those at Wear Farm, NGR 622430 165040, where rich palaeo-environmental remains were found (2, p620-621) (3). Included within the Southern Rivers Project (4, 5)
