The Pineapple, sometimes written Pine Apple is an interesting and perhaps unusal name for an inn. There is little 19th century history available but in 1862 the innkeeper was listed in a directory as Charles Godden. By 1865 it had been taken over by Mr E Godden - with livery stables. Still there in 1895.
According to Mr H M Enderby, former City engineer and architect, the brewers, Rigden, purchased the PINEAPPLE in 1902 for £2500 'including 2 cottages, with livery stables'.
The PINEAPPLE closed in 1914. Apparently the inn was on the site what became the Regal and then the Cannon cinemas.
