Two nice Lower Palaeolithic handaxes, both in fresh condition, found only 15m apart in January 1976 in clayey brickearth excavated for southern roadside drainage gully (1). One of them is a slightly elongated ovate shape, patinated/stained ivory colour. The other is also ivory coloured, and looks to have been a more pointed form, but its tip is broken off. Also included in the Southern Rivers Project (2, 3)
