On the 1692 Licensing List this inn was listed as 'UNICORN'. Innkeepers were;
1799 John Upton
1800 Stephen Harrison.
1846-48 Richard Howard.
1877 inn was pulled down.
An old photograph shows the image of a very run down inn in front of a solid brick bridge. For many years the locomotive 'INVICTA' stood where the Duke of York was located. The locomotive is now in the heritage museum.
