Substantial collection held by British Museum and Canterbury Museum (1). School Pit is just to the west of Herne Bay Road. Pit was still open in 1992 and J Wymer found a flake in situ in gravel near the wooden lodge (2, 3). Abundance of material suggests site was a focus of activity, since unlikely that such a concentration formed by river movement.
