Lower Palaeolithic site investigated by field walking and excavation in 1984 (1), then further excavation by J Scott-Jackson in early 1990s (2, 3, 4). Large asemblage of Palaeolithic handaxes, flake-tools and debitage found, probably representing sustained Palaeolithic occupation of the location. Some of the flint artefacts may be post-Palaeolithic. Presence of burnt flint may relate to post-Palaeolithic activity. Also recorded in SRPP (5).
