Summary

A socketed bronze axe in Liverpool County Museum was reportedly found in Minster in 1819. The axe is octagonal in shape and was bought from a resident of sandwich. The precise location at which this axe was found is unknown. No further information about the axe or its discovery was available. This artefact is one of two bronze axes found in the 19th century in Minster now in Liverpool County Museum (see also TR 36 SW 60).

Minster, Thanet District. An octagonal socketed axe found in Minster in c1819 is in Liverpool County Museum, ex Rolfe Collection. A note with the axe states that it was 'bought from E.F.S. Reader' [of Sandwich]. (1-3)
