TR 332541. A Paleolithic handaxe was found on the surface of a field near her home by Mrs Stead of Finglesham Farm near Eastry. (1 - See illustration card) (2). It is large and sub-triangular in plan-view with a thick cross-section. It has a sharp narrow point (slightly damaged), a partly cortical butt and is heavily-patinated white all over. Subsequent field walking recovered 51 flints, all surface finds, on the crest of a small hill. These latter were all of Later Prehistoric type, including pot-boilers, hammerstones, debitage and scrapers. (2)
