[TR 14705759] A foundation of rubble and flints and strong thick concrete was found in 1868/70 from the top of Hospital Lane. 12ft further down the lane another wall or foundation 12ft through with boxed flue tiles, blackened by fire inside; no doubt part of a Roman house and hypocaust. Evaluation at G.K.N Scaffolding Yard, Hospital Lane, Canterbury in 1994 (TR 15 NW 609) uncovered evidence that confirms the existance of substantial Roman structural remains (3)
