Summary

Lower Palaeolithic handaxe and flakes found near Thanington, at about 30 metres above the river. Lithic implements appear to have come out of gravels beds in the area. The geology in the area is mainly Head Brickearth.

Palaeolithic handaxe, surface find from Thanington, Canterbury, presumed derived from underlying gravel terrace deposits, illustrated by Evans (1, Fig. 463) showing finely-made ficron wih broken tip. Also recorded by Roe (2) and then in SRPP (3).
