Summary

One of four square defensive towers thought to have been constructed by Prior Chillenden at the time the stretch of city wall between Queningate and Northgate was rebuilt between 1390 and 1396. This length of wall later formed part of the western boundary of the monastery circa 1492-1493.

[TR 15305792] Tower [NR]. (1) 15thc repaired 1930. (2) Complete, in good condition. (3) Tower No 11. One of four square medieval towers between Queningate [TR 15 NE 122] and North Gate [TR 15 NE 160]. Preserved. Built by Chillenden. (4)
