Summary

One of two semicircular towers thought to have been the work of Prior Sellinge (1472-94). This work formed part of a major phase of rebuilding andf strengthening of the Medieval city walls that took place at the end of the 15th century. This tower is to be found in that stretch of the city wall between Burgate and Northgate that later became the western boundary of the Monastery circa 1492-93.

[TR 15265781] Tower [NR]. (1) Built c1472-94. (2) Complete and in good condition. (3) Tower No 9. One of two semicircular medieval towers between Burgate [TR 15 NE 85] and Queningate [TR 15 NE 122]. Preserved. Probably the work of Prior Selling. (4)
