Summary

Five flint artefacts, probably late Upper Palaeolithic, were found in the Oare area in the early 20th century. They are now in the British Museum collection. No provenance information, but last glacial brickearth deposits are well-developed in the area.

A small series of Palaeolithic flints from Oare, Kent, are now in the BM accession numbers BM 1933 4-6 33,34,38. They came to the Museum from the collection of the late Mr Garraway- Rice, who had purchased them from a Mr J.Wilkie-Morris. Nothing further is known of their provenance. (See Illustration card) (1) TR 005630 (Sited to place name only). Five Palaeolithic flint implements, two blades/flakes two, backed tools and one other, from an open-air site at Oare are now in the BM. Information from J.B.Campbell. (2) TR010640 Oare (sited to parish name only): Five probably Late Upper Palaeolithic flint implements- two blades/flakes and three others, now in the BM. Information from J.J.Wymer.
