The site of the Bayford cement works set up in the early 1820s by Samuel and Charles Cleaver for the manufacture of Roman cement. Portland cement was manufactured from the early 1850s . Firm became a limited company in 1883, but did not prosper and closed in 1890.
It is marked on the 1st and 2nd editions O.S. but as disused on the 3rd edition.
The site has been cleared.
