Summary

A bronze looped and socketed axe was found in c.1935 during ploughing near Eastborough bungalow. It was decorated with raised ribs on the side and also had a dark green patina. Previously seen to be in good condition except for damage to the cutting edge on the side opposite the loop. Present whereabouts of this object are uncertain.

[TQ 76757587] A bronze axe, in my possession was found C. 1935 while ploughing land immediately to the east of Eastborough Bungalow. I do not know the exact find spot but it was within 30 yards of the house (1). A looped and socketed axe 4 3/4" long and 2 1/4" wide at the blade, with a socket 1 1/2" wide. Decoration consists of raised ribs on the side. The axe, which has a dark green patina, is in good condition except for damage to the cutting edge on the side opposite the loop (2).
