Imported from the Canterbury UAD: Formerly an inn called The Crown and Anchor.
Apparently first appears on a licensing list in 1846, with John Hubble recorded as innkeeper.
During the 19th century its name changed to FARRIERS ARMS. The inn closed in 1912.
As a point of interest, this house was a doss house at the end of the 19th early 20th century. It was a cheap place to sleep, costing a copper or two. Sleep was attempted by spreading a rope acros the width of the room, if you wanted to sleep you would spread one arm over the rope, place your head on your shoulder and try to sleep, standing all night.
