Flint artefacts were found in situ during test pitting at Swanscombe. They were discovered within a Pleistocene context at the base of test pit 7. 3 handaxes and 3 flakes were discovered and were in a fresh condition. They may represent an undisturbed horizon on the gravel surface. It is likely that artefacts are located further down within the gravel at this location. (1) further atrefacts were discovered during subsequent test pitting in this area (2-4)
