Evidence of a middle Palaeolithic occupation level (TQ 57 SE 51) was found in 1931 by Burchell, in Collyers Pit, Swanscombe, at TQ 59737452. Also found were small sherds of early Bronze Age. coarse, gritty pottery. No further information. The finds are in the B M. Collyers Pit is now disused and overgrown.
