The icehouse is situated on the East edge of the settlement. (1)

A gazebo ('a fine example of mid-twentieth century garden design') was built over the oild icehouse, next to a pond that 'may well have provided ice for the icehouse'. Both gazebo and pond still exist. (2)

The house was occupied by the Kadwell family from the early C17 until 1748. Hasted's 'History of Kent' notes that the building was erected by Thomas Kadwell between and 1680. Two storeys and attics red brick. Hipped tiled roof with 2 modern hipped dormers. C19 casement windows. Nearby in the centre is a 2 storeyed projection containing the porch on the ground floor with a room over surmounted by a crow-stepped gable. Chimney breast on the north wall. Modern additions behind. Lord Geddes, Minister of Reconstruction in 1919 and British Ambassador in Washington 1920-4 lived here for some years during his retirement. Interior contains Inglenook fireplace and ceiling with chamfered.
