Name:Icehouse at Old Hall, Barming

Summary

A brick passage leading to a possible icehouse chamber was discovered in the 1930s in the garden of Old Hall, Tonbridge Road, Barming just 12m from the Hall. The rectangular chamber, set at right angles to its north facing entrance, consisted of ragstone walls, a brick barrel vault roof and a yellow sand floor. It was possibly built as a general store and not a purpose built ice house. As late as 1990 steps to the passage were visible.
