surface-finds of at least two Palaeolithic handaxes reported in late 19th century from east side of Oldbury Hill, "The Knoll" or "Ightham Knoll" (1, 2), one of them still in collection of Maidstone Museum recorded by Roe in the 1960s (3), and then listed in the Southern Rivers Project in the 1990s (4).
