A number of coal stores are visible in this location on historic maps dating to the last years of the 19th and early 20th century. (1-2) The Goad Insurance Map of 1905 notes that they all have different owners. From north to south the owners are: P. Hawksfield & Sons, H & E Crundalls, W. R. Mowll and J. W. Bussey & C. L. Sunderland. (location accurate to the nearest 10m based on available information)
