There was a Second World War road block at the bridge over the railway on the narrow lane which leads northwards from Hode Farm to meet Bekesbourne Lane. This was roadblock No. 46 in a list of such structures made 2 December 1940. It was flanked by concrete anti-tank pimples, which survive, albeit overgrown. The London, Chatham, Dover Railway at this point formed part of the Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable Stop Line.
