Summary
A possible Second World War pillbox or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942. The square pillbox is located on the sea front at Sandgate opposite Prospect Road. Another structure with a pitched roof is located behind the pillbox, which may be a second disguised pillbox or a seaside kiosk. Both structures were demolished after the war.

A possible Second World War pillbox or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The square pillbox is located on the sea front at Sandgate opposite Prospect Road and centred at TR 19818 35012. Another structure with a pitched roof is located behind the pillbox, which may be a second disguised pillbox or a seaside kiosk. Both structures were demolished subsequently after the war. (1)
