A Second World War roadblock is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942. The road block is located to the west of Imperial Hotel on the junction between Twiss Road and South Road. The road block is defined by removable road blocks, possibly a hedgehog or hairpin arrangement, and other concrete structures possibly anti tank cylinder, pimples or cubes. The road block was cleared after the war.

A Second World War roadblock is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The road block is located to the west of Imperial Hotel on the junction between Twiss Road and South Road and centred at TR 16830 34416. The road block is defined by removable road blocks, possibly a hedgehog or hairpin arrangement, and other concrete structures possibly anti tank cylinder, pimples or cubes. The road block was removed after the war. (1)
