WWII coastal searchlight building whose front overlooks Thames Estuary (1).

Coast Artillery Searchlight, built after 1911, probably serving the guns on both the Wing (TQ 87 NE 9) and Grain (TQ 87 NE 1026) batteries. The remains of the structure were still standing when surveyed in 1998. Its apsidal end which formerly held the cells has been largely broken out. The building itself is now just a rectangular concrete shell, set into a slope which is revetted by a battered concrete wall. [2].
