Tankerton Hospital (1).

In 1926 this cotage and convalescent hospital was opened in Northwood Rd. It provided 25 beds and had been built at a cost of £11,000. The building survives with few alterations and is a simple, two-storey building of brick and render with a hipped tile roof. The windows are all timber framed sash and cases. It has a symmetriacal façade of seven bays, the centre bay containing the entrance breaks forward slightly and rises above the eaves into pediment. It was later extended to provide 20 additional beds. The hospital was transferred to the NHS in 1948 and latterly functioned as a geriatric and acute unit. (2)
