Summary

A Terminal Building associated with Dovers Hoverport was located at the landward side of the Hoverport. It was a two storey brick built building which building was demolished after Hoverspeed ceased all operations on November the 7th 2005. (location accurate to the nearest 5m based on available information).

The former structure was two storeys, brick built and rectilinear in form, comprising a floor space approximately 8,200m square. The central control tower featured dominantly, adding a further level over the rest of the flat roof structure. Internally the lower floor was largely open plan and once accomodated check-in, immigration, refreshments, duty-free and the main departure lounge. The upper floor was mostly office space and administration space. It featured reinforced concrete floors and the offices wer plaster board partitioned, other than the load bearing walls. The southern side of the building contained facilities to handle baggage and process vehicular traffic, including passport control and service access. There were two main passanger entrance/exits which channel customers through the terminal. The main entrance featured automatic slideing doors set in a wall comprised mostly of sheet glass and metal frames set on lower courses of brickwork. The aesthetic aim was to present a light and modern feel to the approaching passengers. An attempt to emulate the feel of an airport terminal was apparent throughout the building. No unique or interesting architectural features beyond those outlined were noted during the survey of the building undertaken in 2005. (taken from source) (1)
