Preston Hall (Maidstone Military Hospital) was possibly used as a Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) Hospital but certainly by the Red Cross as a Hospital and convalescent home for wounded servicemen, paticularly gassed soldiers and those suffering from TB at some time during World War 1. Preston Hall is now part of a residential complex.
Hazel Basford, 2004, Kent VAD - the work of voluntary aid detachments in Kent during the first World War (Unpublished document). SKE31644.
