A Military Hospital WW1 set up in the Technical Institute, Elwick Road was considered as a replacement for the Congregational School in mid-1916 and initially rejected by the Government because of the effect on educational provision, but later used probably because it was a newly completed building.

A Military Hospital, set up in the Technical Institute, Elwick Road, was considered as a replacement for the Congregational School in mid 1916. It was initially rejected by the government because of its effect on education provision but was used later on probably because it was a newly completed building. The building is currently under consideration for demolition/redevelopment.Technical
