Four Acheulian handaxes were found while digging footings for a new house just off Tile Kiln Lane, Bexley, behind Bexley Hospital. They were presented to Dartford museum by Mr. R. Wakeman, 70, Iron Mill Lane, Crayford, on 6.3.1962. (1) Mr. Wakeman could not be contacted. The implements were probably found within the new housing estate cnetred at TQ 51487207 (2)

The handaxes were recorded by Roe in the 1960s (5), and then listed in the Southern Rivers Project in the 1990s (6).
