Summary

J. Pilbrow observed and recorded three inhumation burials at a depth of 0.91m. On the basis of other finds within the area it is thought that the burials may have been Roman. The discoveries were made in 1868. Andrews, however has listed these as being medieval in date.

During the deepening of a sewer to the north east of St Stephen's Roundabout, the City Corporation Engineer, J. Pilbrow, observed and recorded three inhumation burials at a depth of 0.91m. On the basis of other finds within the area it is thought that the burials may have been Roman. The discoveries were made in 1868.

During the deepening of a sewer to the north east of St Stephen's Roundabout, the City Corporation Engineer, J. Pilbrow, observed and recorded three inhumation burials at a depth of 0.91m. On the basis of other finds within the area it is thought that the burials may have been Roman. The discoveries were made in 1868. (1)
