Summary

Roman metalled surface observed in a hole dug for a stanchion in the cellar of 11 High Street in c.1968. The pit was located beneath the south undercroft of the building. Also seen were the construction trench of the Medieval building and 13th-14th century pottery fragments. A dark earth deposit was also observed overlying the Roman levels.
