Summary

Timber of probable late Iron Age date identified on an intertidal site on Hoo Marsh. Recorded by the Upchurch Archaeological Research Group and thought to be the remains of a trackway. Bone, flint flake scatters, and pottery were also identified.

Prehistoric site identified by Upchurch Arch Group, timber possibly relating to trackway of prehistoric date (1). Surveyed 1999: fragmentary roundwood alignments, bone, flint flake scatters, some pottery. To east are 1st to 2nd century deposits; ditch/channel and adjoining surfaces with pottery. To west 1st century pottery (2). Site photographs (3-7). No visible remains at the point marked in 2004, perhaps the record refers to area of organic clays noted to the north. (8)
