Chartham Hatch Seed Mill was built in the late 18th century. An accident is recorded during conduit digging for the mill in the Kentish Gazette for the week 31st May to 3rd June 1791. The mill was intended to be a flour mill but there was insufficient power to drive it, according to sales particulars of 1820. The mill was converted to housing in 1853 (at which time another serious accident is reported in the Kentish Gazette). The mill was demolished in the 1950s or '60s. (1)
