Between 2005 and 2007 Canterbury Archaeological trust carried out a watching brief. A substantial medieval wall footing extending across the road, with a stub projecting from No. 1 Malthouse Cottages. It is probably part of the hospital, though it is unclear if it was part of a structure or a boundary wall. A possible courtyard was located on the east side of the wall. (1)
