Summary

Roman pottery, including Samian was found with skeletons in 1865-8 in Hundred's Brickfields, Westgate-on-Sea. Other finds included two bronze vases and four black vases. Hatton House is now St. Ursuline's Convent where Roman cremations were found 1876-80 (see TR 36 NW 2). Neolithic and other Roman burials were discovered here in the 19th century.

Roman pottery, including Samian was found with skeletons in 1865-8 in Hundred's Brickfields, near Hatton House, Westgate-on-Sea. (1) Pottery from this site is held in store at Maidstone Museum. The Hundred's Brickfield could not be identified and the area has been completely developed. Hatton House is now St. Ursuline's Convent (TR 31636952) where Roman cremations were found 1876-80 (see TR 36 NW 2). (2) TR 316695. Sited to the nearest 50m. Neolithic and Roman burials were discovered here in the 19th century. Site No.30. (3) Westgate-on-Sea. Two Samian bowls, one found near the shoulder of a skeleton, two bronze vases, four black vases.
