[TQ 5507 7310] Supposed Site of [TI] SAXON CEMETERY [OE]. (1) Applies to the supposed site of a Saxon cemetery, situate 7 chains S.W. of "Bignores", property of Major Pigou. (2) O.G.S. Crawford quotes the object name-book of 1866 as saying "The exact site cannot now be pointed out by the inhabitants," and remarks, "That being so, what does the original entry imply? It is better omitted altogether." (3) This cemetery is almost certainly that referred to by Spurrell as 'Teutonic Burials'. [TQ57SW37]. (4)
