[TR 36225098] Early Iron Age Ditch (site of) [NAT] (1) In 1933 a sewer trench dug along Waterworks Road (now St Richard's Road), about 100 feet NW of the waterworks, exposed a circular V- shaped ditch, about 85 feet in diameter, running around the top of Mill Hill. It had a top width of about 16 feet and a depth of 7 feet and contained a few fragments of very friable early Iron Age pottery together with a mass of slag-like material. The same ditch was cut through on the S side of the road when pipes were laid in 1908. Another ditch exposed may be part of a barrow circle similar to that found at Eynsham, Oxon, in 1933 (c). The area has now been built over. (2)
