A black pottery head of a statuette was found by chance digging in 1951 by Master Robert Low in the garden of his home at 10 Halstatt Road, Mill Hill, Deal. Low indicated the exact findspot at TR 3635 5108. The findspot is below the site of a "2nd C Ro rubbish trench" (TR 35 SE 52) and this may be its original source with early degradation down the hillside. The BM, to whom the head was submitted consider that it is an import based on the Farnese Hercules. (1) additional references (2-3)
