Summary

The house at Crump Farm is thought to have originated from the 15th century. It has an inscription over the mantelpiece depicting the date of 1634. The foundations of the house are three feet thick. There are also niches and wondows in the cellar that are thought to be three or four hundred years old.

[TR 26606676] Crumps Farm (NAT) (1) [TR 26006676, centred on farm] House at Crump Farm, possibly dating to 15th century. (At the time of writing) the house had foundations walls three feet thick an in its cellar, niches and windows wihch may be three or four hundred years old. An inscription over a mantelpiecein one of the rooms depicts the date 1634, painted in red figures between sundry ornamental scrolls. Mr Robert Bubb suggests that the house itself is more than a century older than the date 1634. The name Crump is taken from a pervious occupant. (2)
