(At the time of writing) the house had foundations walls three feet thick an in its cellar, niches and windows wihch may be three or four hundred years old. An inscription over a mantelpiecein one of the rooms depicts the date 1634, painted in red figures between sundry ornamental scrolls. Mr Robert Bubb suggests that the house itself is more than a century older than the date 1634. The name Crump is taken from a pervious occupant. (2)
