This emplacement, for a mobile six-pounder anti-tank gun, was beside the Littlebourne Road on the edge of Canterbury, just out beyond St Martin’s Hospital. (Is it possible it may have been in the pillbox in this approximate vicinity?) The emplacement was established in mid June1941 (the gun being brought here from the Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable Stop Line near Adisham) and is known to have sighted in two directions. It will certainly have guarded against attack from the east, along the Littlebourne Road; probably also down Bekesbourne Lane. The gun was usually kept at the Battery HQ at The Rowans on Ethelbert Road, but was brought out on command. The stated Military Grid Reference of the emplacement was R 613759.
