If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

By the middle of 1940, there was a road block on Mystole Lane, manned by 357 Battery 90 Field Regiment Royal Artillery in defence of the regimental headquarters at Mystole House. This was between Mystole and Chartham, in the vicinity of its junction with Penny Pot Lane at Thruxted. It was Roadblock No. 25 in a list of such structures made at the end of 1940 -- this reflects the importance of Mystole House as headquarters.
