This roadblock, based on a bridge over the railway between Canterbury and Faversham, which was prepared for demolition in case of invasion, had been established by late November 1941. It was on a small bridge, serving a network of paths and tracks, east of Nickle Farm, Chartham. This stretch of the railway seems to have been adopted as a minor defensive line in 1941, subsidiary to a new stop-line along the River Stour west of Canterbury.
