If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

By late November 1941 there was a road-block, to be effected by means of a demolition, on Denstroude Lane, Blean. The most likely spot is where a culvert passes under the road, just west of the point where it bends at a junction with a farm track. The block could have been covered by two or three pillboxes, facing roughly in this direction, to the south-east. Interestingly there are numerous anti concrete anti-tank buoys (out of situ) in the verges of Denstroude Lane further, east. These may conceivably have come from a road block in the vicinity, although it is not clear whether there would ever have been such devices at the block under discussion.
