This road block was established under a viaduct carrying the London, Chatham, Dover railway over Bossington Road. The railway here was part of the Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable Stop Line, and this was clearly part of the associated defences, preventing enemy vehicles from crossing the railway. There were an unusual pair of pillboxes under the flanking railway arches, although these cannot have covered the road-block directly. This road block was assigned the number 86 in a list of such structures published 2 December 1940.
