A barrel flame trap was positioned at the junction of the A229 and Forstal Road during the Second World War. The trap consisted of a barrel of fuel (often 40 gallons) and an explosive device. The trap would be detonated to destroy an enemy vehicle. It is not known whether anything remains of the site. (1)
